COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT—Brief
INTERNATIONAL COURSE IN CONSERVATION BIOLOGY AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT (CBWM)
Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), Satpuda Foundation (India), Aaranyak Assam, SGB Amravati University, Amravati, the Wildlife Department of Maharashtra and Nature Conservation Society, Amravati (NCSA) will hold a three-week course in Amravati, India 10th November 2024—November 29, 2024. An important objective of this program is to train wildlife biologists, resource managers and environmental educators in the conservation of biological diversity.
The CBWM courses include an orientation to introduce the participants to various biodiversity conservation and sustainable development issues. They are also trained in scientific reporting, proposal writing and the use of various field equipment and computer software that are important for data collection and management. The orientation is followed by a series of classroom lectures, seminars and workshops on several topics including biodiversity inventory and monitoring, conservation biology, protected areas management, wildlife management and animal ecology and behavior. The participants after learning this background will be asked to conduct research projects, either alone or in small groups, and gain hands-on experience in using various techniques and collecting data.
Subsequent classroom sessions train participants in statistical methods of analyzing their data and interpreting the results for decision-making purposes. Ultimately, the participants use their training in scientific reporting to develop project reports with the assistance of the course instructors. Thus, the participants are guided through all stages of conducting a field project and trained at every stage of their research experience.
SGB Amravati University will host the course with field assignments in two Project Tiger reserves in central India. For more information, email to satpuda2001@gmail.com, conservation@bnhs.org.
