Dr. Alolika Sinha

Dr. Alolika Sinha is a conservation biologist, working as a senior manager with Elephant Research and Conservation Division of Aaranyak. Her conservation work focuses on building science-based evidence to reverse biodiversity loss and promote coexistence. She is currently engaged in restoring ecosystems by managing invasive alien plants, and assisted regeneration to benefit wildlife, people and mitigate climate change crises, and work with local communities and multiple stakeholders to promote human-elephant coexistence.
Her doctoral research (2014-2020) emphasised on how hog deer, an Endangered tropical deer responds to different habitat and anthropogenic factors in Manas World heritage Site in Assam. She has published her research works in journals of national and international repute, and has a penchant for science communications to reach out to wider audiences.
She is the Red List Authority Coordinator of the IUCN SSC Deer Specialist Group, and member of IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM). She was nominated as an International Visitor Leadership Programme fellow (USA) in 2023 on the climate crisis. She served as the Ambassador for Conservation Leadership Programme 2020. She was Aaranyak’s Publicity Secretary from 2019-2023, and currently a member of Aaranyak’s Executive Committee.
