Aaranyak.org > Donate to empower CSMT to deter wildlife crime

At the Legal and Advocacy Division (LAD), we’re taking powerful strides against wildlife crime through our D.E.T.E.R.S (Disrupt and End Trade of Endangered and Rare Species) initiative.

Our dedicated Community Surveillance and Monitoring Team (CSMT) is at the heart of this effort, working tirelessly in the field to monitor, report, and protect vulnerable species from poachers and trafficking networks. But to sustain and strengthen these critical efforts, we need your help.

We’re raising INR 5 lakhs over the next month to fund essential field gear, equipment and advanced training for the CSMT. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to protecting endangered wildlife and empowering communities to preserve Northeast India’s natural heritage.

Why Your Support Matters
Northeast India is home to some of the world’s most remarkable wildlife, but it’s also under threat as a transit hub for illegal wildlife trade. Our CSMT teams play a crucial role in deterring wildlife crime, patrolling sensitive areas and collaborating with enforcement agencies. However, these teams need upgraded tools, specialized training and essential field gear to continue their impactful work effectively.

Our Requirements
To help our CSMT operate at full potential, we need:

  1. Essential Field Gear – Including protective clothing, first-aid kits and basic survival gear for safer field operations
  2. Advanced Monitoring Equipment – High-quality binoculars, GPS devices and cameras to aid in the detection and tracking of wildlife crime
  3. Targeted Training Programs – Specialized training to strengthen their skills in surveillance, data collection and field reporting.

Funding Requirements
Field Gear: Safe, durable equipment for CSMT members in rugged conditions.

  • INR 1000 = one headlamp
  • INR 1200 = one trekking shoe or one winter sweater/jacket
  • INR 1200 = one rechargeable torch and battery
  • INR 1000 = one good quality raincoat
  • INR 4400.00 per person for combination of all above. Field gears include raincoat, winter sweater/jacket, trekking shoes and headlamps
  • INR 3000.00 per medical kit. Comprehensive first aid kits contain essential medical supplies for treating injuries and emergencies
  • INR 10,000.00 and above = High-quality binocular, GPS devices and cameras to aid in the detection and tracking of wildlife crime

How Your Contribution Will Be Used
The funds you contribute will directly support the CSMT through:

  • Field Gear Acquisition – Providing high-quality, durable gear to ensure CSMT members can perform safely and effectively
  • Equipment Upgrades – Investing in the right tools to enhance monitoring capacity
  • Comprehensive Training – Equipping the CSMT with updated techniques and skills in surveillance, safety, and collaboration with law enforcement

With your support, we can reach our goal of INR 5 lakhs to ensure our CSMT teams are fully prepared to combat wildlife crime and protect endangered species. Join us in empowering these dedicated community members and creating a sustainable future for Northeast India’s wildlife!
